A city built for fast production days

New York runs on short notice. A brand team may lock a studio in the morning and need two models by the afternoon. ShootModel is made for that pace. You set the date first, so the results only show people who can work that day.

The city also packs a lot of shoot types into a small area. A catalog day in a Midtown studio, a street look in SoHo and a rooftop video in Long Island City can all happen in the same week. Talent here often travel by subway, so a travel radius on each profile tells you who can reach your set without a long trip.

  • 01E-commerce and catalog days in daylight studios
  • 02Street style and lookbook shoots on sidewalks and stoops
  • 03Beauty and skincare close ups for product pages
  • 04UGC style videos for social ads, filmed in apartments or cafes

Load-in and parking in the five boroughs

Street parking near Manhattan studios is hard to find on a weekday. Many crews arrive by subway with a cart and leave the van at a garage. Ask your studio about freight elevator hours, since many older buildings close loading docks early. Add travel time to the call time you give the model, especially for trips between boroughs.

When a New York shoot needs a permit

The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, often called MOME, handles film and photo permits for city property. Its current guidance says a shoot with only handheld cameras or a camera on a tripod usually does not need a permit, as long as you do not ask for exclusive use of a sidewalk or park and do not need parking for production vehicles.

Things change once you add lights on stands, a generator, a crew vehicle that needs a parking hold, prop weapons or anything that blocks people walking by. Those shoots need a permit from MOME. If you do not need one but want paperwork to show a building manager or an officer, MOME offers a letter for that case.

Your setupWhat to expect
Model plus one photographer, handheld Usually no permit on public sidewalks
Tripod, no exclusive use of the space Usually no permit
Lighting stands, cables, generator Permit from MOME
Parking held for crew trucks Permit from MOME
Private studio or rooftop Owner permission, not a city permit

Rules change, so check with MOME before your shoot day. Parks run by other bodies and private plazas can have their own rules.

Planning around New York weather

Spring and fall give the softest outdoor light and the easiest temperatures for wardrobe changes. Summer days are long but hot, so plan street shoots early and keep water and shade on set. Winter light is low and fades by late afternoon, which suits moody looks but cuts your outdoor hours. Tall buildings throw deep shade on many streets, so scout the block at the same hour you plan to shoot.

Book a New York model in three steps

Set the date and the borough

Type New York, choose the talent type and enter the date, hours and budget. You can add an age range for adults and filter by look or category, such as e-commerce or beauty.

Compare rates for your exact hours

Every result shows the full price for the hours you entered. Open a profile to see the portfolio, rates for an hour, half day and full day, and the travel radius. Ratings appear only when the model has finished bookings on ShootModel.

Confirm and get the paperwork

Use Book now when the model has instant booking on. Otherwise send a Request to book, and the model answers within 24 hours. Your card is only charged once the model accepts. A booking agreement, model release and usage license are created for every booking and signed online by both sides.

06

What models in New York usually charge

Rates in New York vary a lot by shoot type, experience and usage. A short social shoot costs less than a full catalog day with paid media rights. On ShootModel you never need to ask for a quote. The rate for your hours sits on the card, and you add the usage buyout you need at checkout. There is no booker service fee on top. Our 15% platform fee comes out of the talent payout.

FAQ

01

Do I need a permit to shoot a model on a New York sidewalk?

Often you do not, if you use only handheld gear or a tripod, do not block people and do not need parking for vehicles. Lights, generators and parking holds need a MOME permit. Check with MOME before the day.

02

Can I book a model for the same day in New York?

Yes, if someone is free and has instant booking on. Search with today's date and pick a profile with Book now. Requests can take up to 24 hours to answer.

03

Do New York models travel to Brooklyn or New Jersey?

Each profile shows a travel radius. Search with your set location and you will see talent who can reach it.

04

Is the model release included?

Yes. Every booking comes with a model release, a booking agreement and a usage license, all signed online and saved as PDF files.

05

What happens if my outdoor shoot gets rained out?

For weather or permit problems on outdoor shoots, you can move the date within 30 days if the model agrees. If not, the normal cancellation rules apply.

06

Are all models adults with checked IDs?

Yes. Every person on ShootModel is an adult whose ID and age are verified before a profile can be booked.
