Commercial work is the daily routine here

Los Angeles produces a huge share of the ads, social videos and product content that run across the country. Many models here also act, host or film creator style content, so one booking can cover a still set in the morning and short vertical clips after lunch.

That mix shapes how people search. A beverage brand may want an adult couple for a backyard spot in the Valley. A skincare startup may want a creator who films in natural light at home. A catalog team may want three fit models in a Downtown studio. You filter by talent type and category, and ShootModel shows who matches and is open on your date.

Getting talent and gear to set

Most crews drive. Put the parking plan on the booking chat so the model knows where to leave the car. Rental homes often limit vehicles on the street, and some neighborhoods post their own filming rules. Ask the location for the load-in door and the times neighbors expect quiet.

03

Film permits in Los Angeles and who issues them

FilmLA is the nonprofit that processes film permits for the City of Los Angeles, unincorporated LA County and a number of nearby cities. FilmLA says commercial still photography needs a permit too, which surprises many first time shooters. Personal, non-commercial shoots generally do not.

On top of the permit, some places need their own reservation. County beaches, county parks and city parks each set rules for their land. Insurance is usually required before a permit takes effect.

SituationWhat usually applies
Commercial photo on a public street FilmLA permit
Personal portrait session with no lights Usually no permit in the City of LA
Lights, generators or a large crew Permit and possibly extra approvals
County beach or county park Permit plus the land manager's terms
Private studio or rental home Owner approval, permit if you use the street

Ask FilmLA before you book the day. Cities outside its service area run their own permit offices.

04

Marine layer, golden hour and wind

Late spring and early summer bring morning cloud near the coast, which locals call June Gloom. It acts like a giant soft box until it burns off. Inland spots such as the Valley stay clear and get hot. Fall can bring dry Santa Ana winds that make hair and loose wardrobe hard to manage. Golden hour on the beaches is popular, so expect company on the sand.

05

Book a Los Angeles model on ShootModel

Search by area and date

Enter Los Angeles or the neighborhood of your set, the date, the hours you need and your budget. Choose models, creators, actors or another talent type.

Check the rate and the travel radius

Each card shows the full cost for your hours. Profiles list a travel radius, so you can tell if a model in Long Beach will drive to Burbank.

Book now or send a request

If instant booking is on, you confirm right away. With a Request to book, the hold on your card is released if the model does not accept within 24 hours. After you book, the booking agreement, release and usage license are created and both sides sign online.

06

Pay for the rights your campaign needs

Los Angeles content often ends up in paid ads, so usage matters. At checkout you pick media, territory, term and exclusivity. The usage buyout is added to the model's rate, and that total is what you pay. There is no booker fee on top.
